On Saturday, Sept. 4, the Lady Plainsmen traveled to Vinton-Shellsburg High School and took on four teams, Nashua-Plainfield, Iowa Valley, West Delaware, and Janesville. The games were played best out of three. First game was against Nashua-Plainsfield, the score was really close but ended with Belle Plaine losing (1-2), the second game was against Iowa Valley, winning (2-1), the third game was against West Delaware ending (0-2), and the last game was against the Janesville Wildcats.

Janesville is a tough team every year and again this year they are ranked. Since there was an injury that occurred during the day the girls had to run a different line up then they usually do. Coach April Kressley mentioned a couple things that could be improved for the next game, she said that the serving was tough and the defense could be improved. They played two games against Janesville, the first game's score was Belle Plaine (16) and Janesville (21). The second game’s score was Belle Plaine (5) and Janesville (21). For the stats Mandy Chizek led the team with six assists, Grace Bean led kills (2.5), and blocks(1) then Jacey Reineke led with digs having six. Even though they didn’t pull off the win, the game and tournament was still a good learning experience.
